According to legends, when Lord Shiva wanted to wear white colored jewelry on his wedding, he created the Sholapith plant by throwing a strand of his hair in the pond. Sholapith or Indian Cork is a dried milky white spongy plant matter that is derived from the marshy water logged areas of West Bengal, and is pressed and shaped into delicate and beautiful works of art. Each creation is a Masterpiece giving the look of Ivory and requires hours of craftsmanship due to its intricacy.
